Personal Freedoms are Being Eroded and I'm Too Lazy to Do Anything About It

The state feels it necessary to badger and bully people on all fronts, banning smoking, trying to make us thin and treating alcohol like it's an invidious poison that the average chap is helpless to withstand. Wringing its hands and wondering what it can do with its delinquent children, many of whom simply refuse to try to live forever in the dullest way possible, and appealing constantly to people's smug feelings of superiority 'of course I understand that drinking in public places must be banned, my friends and I can no longer enjoy a glass of wine with a picnic, but it's worth it to stop dreadful yobbos from drinking white lightening' 'indeed, smoking in private residences must be banned, children might inhale the smoke, and besides it's horrible on the curtains. If a few people who have no children and don't give a fig for their curtains are inconvenienced, it's all for the greater good' 'Of course an ID card's a good idea, it lets the government keep an eye on the criminal element'

I can see it all happening, and I could take a stand, but I'm too lazy and too scared of putting effort into something to see it make no impact. This cannot be my fault, clearly my spirit has been crushed, or possibly just made soggy, by this conformist, enveloping, greedy, monotonous culture. Something should be done to stop people like me being like me, they make me sick.

They have been doing that in

They have been doing that in the States for years. Hasn't changed the fact that we're all overweight, drunk, pretentious snobs.

I call it the California Mentality. They can go suck it.
